FIRST IMPRESSIONS: Revlon Nearly Naked Foundation in 130 Shell

Revlon Nearly Naked foundation in 130 Shell - £8.99, Boots

Hey guys!
I've been reading up on new foundations because a new one my MaxFactor FaceFinity has started to run out, even though I love it to bits I wanted to try more foundations just, well you know, because I can and I want to widen my range.

I have read a few reviews about Revlon Nearly Naked on blogs such as Essie Button's and ViviannaDoesMakeup and thought I'd give it a go after reading their glowing reviews!

I'll start off my saying I have combination/oily skin (oily chin and T-zone and dry cheeks some days, other they're shiny) When I first tried it I used Rimmel's 5 in 1 Primer as a base then applied the foundation. I found when I used this method the foundation didn't set very well even with powder on top of it and it basically just slid right off my face due to my oily skin and it wasn't a pleasant experience. Next day I decided to try a new primer with it and went for L'Oreal Lumi Base Primer and this was a lot less oily and the foundation actually set! (Hurray!) Before I applied this primer I also thoroughly exfoliated and moisturised and properly cleaned my face etc etc so this may have also been a factor!

I also think I chose the wrong shade as whenever I use it I just get streaky orange lines and you can clearly see where the foundation ends on my skin, as obviously I can't cover my whole body in it so it has to end somewhere...Obviously this is my fault, for choosing the wrong shade, but it was the lightest shade available in my local Boots and Superdrug stores and it just made me have an even more unpleasant experience with this foundation and I am unsure of whether or not this brand/range even does a tone to match my skin. There didn't seem to be a whole lot of colour choice from what I remember.

One thing I do like is how build-able it is, you can have it "nearly naked" as in it looks like your skin "but better"  so it evens the tone, and makes you look more flawless, or you can keep topping it up to get a more full coverage type of setting but without the foundation looking too cakey.

This foundation as a whole has not massively impressed me at all as my expectations were so so high due to the recommendations from other bloggers and reviews I had read. I am continuing to use it as I don't have another foundation yet, but I do have to make a proper effort on my face to get the longest staying time and to proper blend it so I don't look like an "Oompa Loompa" which is unfortunate as sometimes I just don't have the time for this long winded routine, but when I do make the effort it stays all day and doesn't transfer it's build-able and its got great colour toning.

I'd give it a firm 6/10 as it,s great for building from sheer - full(ish) coverage, on the right skin tone it would be amazing and it was only £6.99 on offer! So I would buy it again if I could get the "Vanilla" shade, but maybe more towards the Winter months! I know this is meant for sheer coverage summer months but it just doesn't deal well with my skin in the heat!

Have you tried this foundation? Thoughts?

REVIEW: Rimmel London's Exaggerate Undercover Shadow Primer

Undercover Make Up

Rimmel Exaggerate Undercover Shadow Primer, Tesco - £5.99

Hey Guys!

I've been lusting over the Urban Decay Eye Shadow Primer Potion for as long as it's been available but being on a budget and it not being essential to me right now in my everyday make up routine, I just haven't invested!

However, I was walking around Tesco a few days ago and needed a new highlighter so I took myself off to the make up section where I found this little item. It comes out in a white liquid form and applies onto your lids in a translucent way to make you eye shadow stand out more/be more pigmented and last longer without creasing.

The basic jist of this is it makes your eye shadow last long and stay more vibrant instead of rubbing/sliding off! It definitely made my eye shadow stay longer! As bad as this sounds I went on a night out, applying my make up at 8pm and I forgot to wash it off when I went to bed!! I know I'm a tramp, don't judge! Anyway more to the point my eye make up was still on my lids when I got up at 10am!! So I think that's a good sign that the products working right??

It's definitely worth the price so if you're looking for a cheaper alternative to Urban Decay's potion one this could be it! Obviously I can't say its a "dupe" because I haven't used Urban Decay's but it's a good product in the end anyway!

What do you think?? Let me know!

REVIEW: Tresemme Platinum Strength Hair Care Range

Tresemme Platinum Strength Range

The Whole Range

Deep Condition, Superdrug - £5.99

Monodose, Superdrug - £1.49

Leave In Treatment, Superdrug - £5.99

Strengthening Shampoo&Conditioner, Superdrug - £4.99 per bottle

Hey guys!
As I sit here dreaming up an effective and attractive way to present this hair care range to you (not that it needs it!) I'm simultaneously sipping tea, comforting the wimp of a dog I own (she's a Jack Russell...needy isn't the word!) and subconsciously stroking my super soft and lovely smelling hair!

For as long as I've been frying- oops I mean straightening - my hair, it has refused to grow past my shoulders *cue awww's and me sighing.* As bad as I know this is I cannot stop, my hair is a birds nest that I refuse to thin out, because if it does ever grow (which is looking doubtful.like it'll take an age) I want long thick shiny locks! So instead of stopping the heat I apply I've been reducing the frequency I apply it, using a lower heat setting on my straightener and spending shed loads trying to protect it in the form of hair treatments and hair cuts. Although my hair cuts don't cost because I can do it myself! My hair is in significantly better shape since buying hair oils, creams, masques, heat protectant and decent bottles of shampoo and conditioner. Yet it still grows slower than ever! However, I truly believe if you want your hair to grow, you have to treat it right, right? If you dye it and bleach it and fry it without protection, it's going to fall out and split, no question! No body wants scraggly, dried up looking locks and this is where the Tresemme Platinum Strength hair care range comes in!

I have heard glowing reviews about this hair care range released just before the new year. It is said to reduce up to 2 years of damage done to your hair, in just 5 washes compared to other ranges/if you use the range as a set of course. So I dragged my self along to Superdrug and bought the whole set without even thinking about it, literally. I ran to the shampoo aisle pulled what I needed off the shelves and then sprinted to the till to avoid over spending which, ask anyone I know, I am famous for!

I've of course waited the 5 washes before reviewing this for you, since that's how long the Tresemme team suggest it takes to notice a difference in your hair and I always want to produce honest and carefully thought through reviews!

I hopped in the shower super excited to see what was in store for my hair and began the journey. Once a week I use the monodose, or if my hair seems particularly stressed out. Otherwise I just use the shampoo, conditioner and leave in treatment. I use the deep conditioner as a treat twice a week, instead of the regular conditioner to give my hair a bit of shine and a deeper treatment!

This range is absolutely amazing, my hair feels replenished, fuller, visibly less damaged and smells beautiful until my next wash. There is no build up of the products and it is gentle enough for every day washing (although I don't recommend this as it weakens the hair!) Truly impressed by Tresemme, AGAIN and will continue with this range until something else takes my fancy!

When I bought this range it was half price at Superdrug across all Tresemme products so I was quite lucky and got the whole range for £12.They have a 3 for 2 offer on at the moment so if you're considering this range, I'd definitely look into that!

Have you tried this range? What do you think? If not, have I convinced you? Let me know your thoughts!

REVIEW: Topshop blush in Morning Dew

Pink cheeks make the boys weak...

Without Flash
Topshop blush - £6

Hey guys!
I went to London on April 2nd 2013 to see One Direction (cue remarks of how sad i am!!) needless to say they were fabbbb and I am convinced Harry will love me! Moving on, I had to visit Oxford Circus for the shopping due to it being my first time in London, obviously!

I visited Topshop and was absolutely overwhelmed by the crazy big store!! It's HUGE all you Londoners are probably laughing at me but in North Wales we have a corner in an "outfit" store that we call our "Topshop."

I picked up a few make up bits, two lipsticks (see below post) and this blush. This is a cream blush because I had money and thought, why not? I've never read a review on Topshop blusher or even seen a friend with one so I'm a complete newbie! This is also my first cream blush so I'm completely blind and throwing myself in at the deep end with this one.

I used my Real Techniques blush brush to apply it as it applies just the right amount of product. This blush comes out very light and you can build it up and up until you get the shade you like. It's a very hot pink colour but looks lovely on the cheeks! I love this blush and I'm glad I finally purchased my first cream blush, thank you London/Topshop!

(Sorry for the lighting!! The top picture is very true to colour but my house is naturally badly lit, due to lack of windows! haha)

What do you think of Topshop's make up range?? Let me know!

This lipstick is described a a velvet finish and is perfect for a basic toned down look. It's warm tone is perfect for brightening any dull outfit or to take the focus away from tired eyes on those down days!

Topshop, All About Me - £8

This lipstick is describer ads a 'matte finish moisturizing lipstick' and is highly pigmented. I love the way this lipstick stays pigmented and matte for hours. It moisturises my lips even though it looks matte and dry! Definite colour option for gloomy days!

I am in loveeee with the Topshop's makeup range and I also recently bought a cream blush which iIwill be reviewing soon!

March Favourites

Things I've enjoyed last month!

Provoke Touch of Silver Range (Boots)
Toner - £3.09
Shampoo & Conditioner - £2.09 each
I bought these as I've recently lightened my hair to a blonde colour and needed to reduce the brassy tones that come with lightning it! The toner is a twice weekly 5 minute treatment which takes the brassy tones out of the hair and the shampoo and conditioner brighten/make the hair shiny over time!  It has worked wonders and it kept my hair soft and shiny! I will keep buying this to lighten my hair :)

Rimmel Stay Matte Powder (Boots)
Shade - Peachy Glow £3.99
I've been using this powder on and off for years now but recently I stopped and opted for a cheaper alternative in Natural Collection transparent powder. I recently went back to it and instead of opting for my usual "transparent" coloured powder i went for the "peachy glow" and i love it it gives my face a nice healthy colour.

MUA Pro-brow Palette All-In-One (Superdrug)
One shade - £3.50
This palette didn't start off as one of my favourites but after using my Sleek angled brush to contour my eyebrows it is a firm favourite! It lasts all day and keeps stray hairs in place. For the price it is DEFINITELY a bargain buy as well! The palette comes with a light brown/blonde and a dark brown shade to fill the brows, a wax to shape and a light colour to highlight. Read my full review >here<

MUA Eyeshadow Palette (Superdrug)
Undressed palette - £4
This palette was also featured in my last months favourites which you can read >here.< I LOVE this palette and I use it near on every single day, it make my eyes look more awake, you can create a simple smokey eye in seconds with it and it makes me looks as though I've made an effort with my make up when i really haven't. It's really an amazing palette and like all MUA products, very affordable! You can read my full review >here.<

Real Techniques Brush (Boots)
Blush brush - £9.99
I've been using my Illamasqua powder brush for EVERYTHING but last September I took the plunge and bought my first Real Techniques brush and since then I've used them for everything. I carried on using my Illamasqua brush for bronzer and blush but then recently bought this blush brush, it applies just the right amount of product and does have any fall out! These brushes are a definite must buy for beauty lovers. The Core Collection would be a good place to start for people who haven't a clue like I didn't!

Natural Collection Eyeliner Pencil (Boots)
White Eyeliner pencil - £1.99
I use this eyeliner when I'm not feeling at my best. White eyeliner opens up the eyes and makes you look more awake. I suffer from over sleeping meaning I'm super super lazy! So obviously I sleep too much and when I do put make up on I look tired so I use this to open my eyes a bit more. Just a little trick I use!

These are my March favourites! Hope you enjoy :)
