REVEW: Soap & Glory's Kick Ass Concealer

Hey guys!

So this is part one in a series of three posts about my Soap & Glory purchases recently. I went into Boots the other day and came across the 3 for 2 Soap & Glory deal so this was one of the products I picked up and it cost me £10.

It's a 3 step concealer for blemishes and dark under-eyes. First you use Step 1 to brighten under your eyes and conceal the dark spots, then you use Step 2 to conceal any blemishes or redness you may have and finally you take the powder puff provided (Or any small concealer brush/setting brush) gather up some product from the powder provided, tap off the excess and pat it onto the places you have concealed, this will set the concealer. You can then go over with you normal face powder, blush, bronzer etc and it'll be like you skin has always been so perfect!

I bought this on a whim because my friend had it and I loved the packaging. When I got it home to test I was pleasantly surprised. The consistency is thick enough to cover blemishes and redness but not so thick it will cake over or look really obvious and the setting powder is almost transparent so don't be scared away when you see the white colouration of it! You wont end up looking like Casper the Friendly Ghost.

The wear of this product isn't amazing but I would give it a strong 3-4 hours in this current heat so I'm sure in the Winter it will be even better! My foundation and BB creams usually do out last it though.

A bad thing or down point that I have noticed about it is it clings to my dry patches. If I have a spot that healing and has a bit of dry skin around it, towards the end of its wear this concealer does cling to my skin and show the dry skin quite obviously. I'm not a dry skinned person by any means, I'm actually quite oily, so I have no idea how this would react on dry skin I'm afraid.

Overall, I am impressed and would give this a 7/10 altogether! I will definitely repurchase. I wish the price was a little more student friendly but hey ho, I can deal with it!

Have you ever tried this concealer? Let me know you thoughts!

M&M's scented candle, Cats trying to get a moth, My hand full of swatches,  Beaut new rings, Beaut new things, Alton Towers <3, New bag, Barry M Satsuma polish, Soap & Glory 3 for 2.

I. Been working A LOT this week and last, which is good news for my bank but bad news for my feet & blog! Haven't really had the chance to blog as much as I'd like! No matter I've had a pretty good week.

II. Went to Alton Towers and it was absolutely fab! Went on all the main rides and even got to go on "The Smiler" and I can honestly say it's the best ride they have at the park! I loved it! Although I didn't love the queuing so much...

III. Overall I've had a fab week and I'm glad I've worked a lot because it paid off for me in the end, literally!

Mini Haul (Yes, Another!)

Hey guys!

I went shopping again, I was going for a night out and wanted a new outfit and wanted to try a  few bits from the Soap & Glory make up range. I already have the SuperCat eyeliner pen, you can read my review >here<, and I love it :) So, yeah here's a few more bits! Reviews will be on the way in due course :)

Fashion
Dress - £19.99 from New Look
How cute is this dress?! I wasn't sure when I first saw it but when I tried it on I LOVED it! With dresses I often find they are way too long because I am quite short but this one was perfect!

Make Up
Soap & Glory Trick and Treatment (£9), Kick Ass Concealer (£10) and Glow All Out (£11) from Boots
If you're a Soap&Glory fan then get yourself down to Boots ASAP because they have a 3 for 2 offer on! I wanted the Glow all Out highlighter and Kick Ass Concealer anyway, they were the reason I went into Boots so when I saw the 3 for 2 I was over the moon! I recently ran out of my Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer and as much as everyone raves it, I'm not a massive fan! It creases under the eyes and the wear of it isn't too crazy so I'd say it was a pretty average concealer and that's where Kick Ass concealer comes in! It reminded me of the Bobbi Brown concealer with the packaging (not the box) or the MAC Studio fix. I'm a sucker for packaging!

MUA Blush in Lolly (£1) and Liquid Eyeliner in shade 5 Black.(£1) from Superdrug
MUA are up there with my favourite make up brands and it just makes it even better that they're so inexpensive! I picked up a blush in Lolly which is a peachy coral shade and I picked up the liquid eyeliner because I like my eyeliner to be VERY black and I find pens don't do that, but with a pen you have more precision which is what I love about them! So instead of picking up a £6/7 one I just picked up this £1 one and it does the job well enough!

 Hair Care
L'Oreal Elvive Triple Resist Reinforcing Treatment - leave in 200ml £3.99

I've heard good things about this leave it treatment so I thought I'd give it a go so I'm expecting good things. Although when I tried it I did find it smelt a bit like alcohol? I don't know if that's just me being weird but I hope it doesn't smell like that all the time!

DIY: Hair Detox Sea Salt Shampoo

Hey guys

So I was browsing Pinterest and came across a picture claiming that you could make your own detoxing hair shampoo that gets rid of the product build up in your hair and also exfoliates your scalp WITHOUT removing the natural juices and oils your hair produces. It does however wash your hair properly and will not be greasy when you dry your hair!

This type of DIY product has been likened to products such as the Lush BIG shampoo which is a sea salt shampoo that throughly cleans your hair but considering that shampoo costs £11.25 for 330g which is the same size as a can of coke OR £3 for this DIY one.

What you will need:
  • Coarse Sea Salt
  • Your Favourite Shampoo
  • A Container (I got mine from Tesco for £2.50)
They say to use 2 parts shampoo to 3 parts sea salt but I didn't know what the heck this meant because I'm British and we don't use parts and stuff we say measurements and also I'm bit thick when it comes to measuring! If it doesn't say it blatantly like ALICIA GET 100G OF SEA SALT or something like that then I'm clueless so below you can see roughly I filled my jar 1/4 of the way up with sea salt and then used the remainder of the shampoo that I had left in my bottle (you can see this in the top picture) I then thoroughly mixed this together.

That is literally all you have to do! I use this in place of my shampoo and I use it about two-three times a month because it is a very thorough cleaning so you don't want the salt to clean you hair out too well and leave it dry and without any natural oils! If you use it like I've said it will leave hair with a visible lift and it should look healthy and clean!

Let me know what you think!

Mini Haul

Hey guys!

I went into town today because I got paid and wanted a few nice things. This is a little mini haul of the things I bought!

Rimmel Kate Moss Lasting Finish Lipstick in Coral 110
This is the perfect summer colour (cliche blogger thing to say), it's bright, coral and velvet/matte finish. It was £5.49 from Boots.

Rimmel Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl in Nude
I got this as a replacement for my white eyeliner, to put on the waterline. The white can sometimes be too bright and harsh so I thought getting this might just add a bit more natural colour back into my eyes. It was £3.99 from Boots

Rimmel Professional Eyebrow Pencil in Hazel
This purchase was just a repurchase of a staple in my make up bag. I was going to get the L'Oreal Paris Brow Artiste one but couldn't see any difference from the Maybelline Brow pencil apart from the "wax" at the end of it so I just picked this one back up as a fail safe. I love this pencil for defining my eyebrows. However I'm not crazy about filling them with this pencil as they look a bit rubbery. This is £2.99 from Boots

Mini Chevron & Cross Over Knuckle Rings
These are so cute!! I've wanted the Chevron ones for ages but the cross over ones are really cute too! I bought these from River Island for £5 all together and they have to be my favourite jewellery trend of the moment!

I hope you've enjoyed my mini haul! Keep posted for reviews on the beauty items.

REVIEW: MUA Lipstick in Shade 15, Juicy.

MUA Lipstick in Shade 15, Juicy -£1, Superdrug

Hey guys!

MUA is a very affordable cosmetics range which is available from Superdrug and online. Most of the items range between £1-£4 with the odd £5 item but not much if anything over that price mark which is amazing for what you get.

A few weeks ago I went into my local Superdrug and bought 2 Lipsticks, 3 nail polishes and the Undress highlighter. This lipstick is on of the ones I bought and I picked it up because it's a brilliant colour for Summer and it's such a lovely shade.

This is Shade 15, Juicy. It's a Orange-y Coral colour that looks like it has hints of baby pink in some lights. Its very very moisturising and creamy and very pigmented. The smell isn't anything amazing, it just smells like a factory lipstick, you get what you pay for but for £1 you can hardly complain! The MUA lipsticks also come with a little pot of lipstick at the bottom of the tube which you can unscrew and use for brush application onto the lips which I thought was a cool little addition as you don't see that on many other lipsticks.

This lipstick isn't very long wearing, if you are eating and drinking you'll probably have to reapply after a few drinks or one meal but if you're not having much action in the mouth area (excuse the vulgar-ness it wasn't intended!!) then it should last about 1-2 hours I would expect!

Like I said, for £1 that is extremely good and the colour pigmentation is brilliant and it certainly doesn't dry out your lips. I will definitely be buying more of these lipsticks

Have you tried any of the lipsticks from this range? Let me know!

Week Overview
I. So my parents went away on Saturday and I've been working 8 hours days pretty much since then. Knackered isn't the word! I;ve been really unorganised and all over the place I can't even get myself to sit down for 30 minutes to write a blog post and I haven't planned any for way over a week. Hoping it's just a funk and it'll shake when my parents get back and I have less responsibility regarding looking after my house!

II. Like I said I've been working lots and this is great news for my bank but I am seriously lazy when it comes to work and I can't hack it I have to have a little nap when I get home! Don't get me wrong I love me some hard work as I know it pays off and I love getting paid but who wouldn't rather stay at home and get paid for doing that? I would!

Favourite Magazine Freebie Samples July/August 2013

Marie Claire - £3.80
Eyeko Skinny Mini Liquid Eyeliner Pen in Black
I love me some liquid eyeliner, so when I saw Marie Claire were giving away a sample of the Eyeko Skinny Mini I was all over it. As you can see from the swatch this pen can go thick or thin depending on how you want your eyeliner. It also is smudge resistant. I tested this by drawing my name on my hand and just smudging it at random points throughout the day, it hardly budged! Now obviosuly this isn't a like for like test as the skin on you hand is different to your eye lids but I thought if it was good on my hands, which are exposed to more, it must be good on my lids! I will do a full review but my one qualm was that if you try to go over the liner whilst it's drying it sort of removes the liner you've already put there and it takes a while for the ink inside to leak out to the felt tip so I was shaking the pen like mad for about a minute until it was fully saturated!

Red Magazine £4
L'Occitane Immortalle Precious Cream
Not gonna lie I bought this out of shallowness for the brand and the packaging! But needless to say I am pleasantly surprised. This cream is for people with dry skin but I have quite oily skin so I just use it as an under eye cream and on any dry skin patches I may have from healing spots and what not and it works wonderfully! It's super cute and effective and I'm really glad I picked this up. It;s definitely taken it's place in my skin care routine!

Harpers Bazaar - £4.20
Ren Mini Skincare Set
I haven't really had a chance to use these but I used the day and the night cream and they're VERY moisturising. It states these products are for people with "normal" skin but what the hell is normal skin? Does that mean all skin types? Or people who's skin does nothing at all? Or people who are a combination of everything? I don't know! I think I'll use these more during the Winter when my skins goes slightly drier to add some moisture in. I know my skins oily but I've heard depriving it of moisture and oil to combat oilyness can have an adverse effect and create more oil so I'm all for some moisture!

So these were my favourite finds of magazine freebies for "august" magazine (that came out in July!) Have you got these products? Let me know!

DIY: How To Fix Your Broken Lipstick Bullet

What You'll Need:
  • A Broken Lipstick
  • A Lighter
  • A Plastic Sheet/Sandwich Bag
  • A Freezer
Hey guys!

So recently I broke my MUA lipstick and I was devastated, it may not be expensive but you know, I was just gutted my lipstick broke really and I thought, I wonder if I can fix this?

So I thought well I need to harden the broken lipstick bullet so when I tried to  attach it back to the tube, it didn't smush in my hands. I did this by taking the broken bullet, laying it on a plastic sheet and putting it in the freezer for 10-15 minutes.

After the time was up, I took the lipstick out of the freezer and laid it flat on my table top. When doing this part you need to act fast to make sure the lipstick doesn't melt. I then took my lighter (picture 2) and used it to slightly heat the underneath of the bullet to ensure it was slightly melted. This is so it will take shape onto the tube.

You then need to smooth all the lines to make it look good as new and like it was never broken! (picture 3) Personally I used the lighter to melt the lipstick back together as mine looked like some one had stuck their nail into it so the gap was too big to bridge by smudging it. Then I twisted the lipstick in and out of the tube a few times to make sure it was still moveable.

After this I took my plastic sheet and laid the lipstick back in the freezer (picture 4) for a further 10-15 minutes and when it comes out, it's good as new!

I hope this post helped you if you had the traumatic experience of snapping a lipstick, let me know if this was helpful :)

(sorry for the blurry photos, it was hard to do this with only 2 hands haha!)

REVIEW: 2True Bronzing powder

Hey guys!

So recently I've been looking for a matte bronzer for contouring, I have the Sleek Contour kit but I wanted to try different things to see if I can find something cheaper but more suited in a sense.

I bought this 2True Bronzing Powder for £1.99 from Superdrug and pretty much bought it on a whim because it was matte. I haven't heard any reviews or anything on this product but it was only £1.99 so I figured I wasn Most bronzers I find have shimmer in them and it just makes my face look dirty if I use them for contouring.

This bronzer is very heavy on application so you may need to tap the brush a few times, I used one swipe the first time and I looked like I'd dipped my brush in chocolate and spread it on my cheeks. So I do it very lightly and build it up it as I feel I need it.

It lasts quite well on top of foundation, around 4-5 hours, but I've found if I wear just a primer and a face powder it wears off quite quickly but I don't really mind that since I don't really tend to go for a full faced look on these days but I like it to add a bit of colour to my face.

Overall I do love this bronzer and for £1.99 you really can't complain, the colour pay off is great as is the staying power (as I said on top of foundation.)

Have you tried this bronzing powder? let me know!

A Weekend By The Sea

 Hey guys!

I recently went on a weekend break/camping trip with a few friends and thought I'd share my pictures :) It was such a nice weekend and it was so so fun! I saw some friends I haven't seen in ages and generally had a good time!

The fire maker

Cider in the sun

Temporary home

Noodles the dog

Everything you need to survive an apocalypse, in a VW Transporter

Friends :)

The first night we got there we had a barbecue and drank quite a lot in the sun, then when the sun went down we went to the beach for a (skinny) dip in the sea, needless to say we were all inebriated and overly happy with going camping!

The morning after, we woke up and had some bacon, sausage and egg sandwiches for breakfast and then made our way to the showers. Being me and being a complete girl I couldn't take my eyes off all the daddy-long legs and moths and spiders that were in the showers and the toilets, I know it's out doors but I can't stand them!

After this we made our way back up to the campsite to drop off our towels and then headed down to the beach.

I can't even describe how beautiful this place was it was incredible. We hung around the beach for a while, entertaining the dog and splashing around in the water and then we went back up to the campsite for a bit more sunbathing. Me and another friend sun bathed whilst the rest of the guys went to the pub.

Apparently the pub area had absolutely no wind whatsoever and it was 21 degrees C so they came back up and started up the barbecue! Then we carried on with some drinking and chatting about old school times!

Even though I live in Wales I never get tired of seeing places like this. I really do take it for granted, everything that's around me and I am so so grateful to actually have the opportunity to live here!

Can't wait to get back to this place!

Make Up Starter Kit For Beginngers! - Under £25

Hey guys!

So obviously I'm no make up artist or whatever but a few years back I lost my make up bag and had to repurchase everything and I managed to repurchase all the basics of my make up, that I used every single day when I was about 16/17, for under £25 which I thought was pretty good! So I decided to share the basics I bought and what I think would create a good starter make up kit for those who are looking to get into wearing make up! This doesn't include things like brushes and primers and all that malarky this is literally bare basice stripped back to the essentials! To go to the website with the cheapest prices (that I've found!) just click the names of the products under the pictures!

Foundations

I chose these two as they pretty much cover all skin types (well, not really but the most common ones at least.) These foundations are very good for people who don't know which foundations to go to. L'Oreal True Match is good for the drier skin types whilst Maybelline Dream Matte is good for those with oilier skin as it creates a matte finish. Both these foundations brands have a wide colour range and are very inexpensive compared to the high end ones. These prices come from Feel Unique (feelunique.com)

 Face Powder & Blush

These two products are fail safes in my opinion! They're the ones that always work on my (oily) skin and they stay put! If you tend to be more dry then you would probably be better off with a cream blush but this powder on would also work fine. If you do have very dry skin you could probably get away with not using a powder on your face during the colder months but if you want your make up to last through hotter months and special occasions clubbing then you'll need a setting powder and the blush just blends in with that really nicely! Again these prices are both Feel Unique prices.

 Eyes

Eyes are probably my favourite part of the make up routine apart from foundation because a well filled in brow, long lashes and gorgeous eye shadow just sets the whole look in my opinion. This eyebrow pencil is perfect for creating a defined brow without looking like it's been heavily drawn on, if you take an old (CLEAN) mascara wand to your brow afterwards it will look even better. Day 2 Night mascara has got to be my favourite drug store mascara, I use the thin wand for my bottom lashes and to elongate my top lashes and then take the thick wand to go over my top lashes and they come out perfect every time. MUA monoshadows come in a variety of colour and if you're starting out with make up you wont want a huge palette of colours that you wont know what to do with so as a starter maybe buying some warm browns to just go over the lid for a neutral look would be perfect as as you progress you could maybe expand your collection!

Lips

MUA Lipstick £1

No look is complete without lipstick and at £1 a pop this is hard to pass up! MUA do a great range of lipsticks that are super pigmented - sheer and all range of colours so there's something to suit everyone. You could buy 3 and still have enough change out of your fiver to buy that copy of Company mag! i love Company it's my fave mag, but I usually just buy for freebies (if the freebie is good.) I sound so super cheap right now haha!

So all in all the total is

With Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse : £22.46
With L'oreal True Match :£24.45

I hope this post has helped you in some way and I hope you have enjoyed it, let me know what you think below and I'll reply asap!

Hope you're all well! :)

Top 5 Drugstore Lipsticks!

L-R Rimmel Kate Moss Matte Finish Lipstick in 111, MUA Lipstick in shade 15 Juicy, Revlon Lip Butter in Strawberry Shortcake, Rimmel Apocolips in Celestial, Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick in Coral in Gold.

Hey guys!

So I've complied a few lipsticks that are my favourite range of drug store lipsticks and the colours/shades I've picked are ones I think are nice for summer time (two in one post woo!)

These are all really good and really pigmented lipsticks and they're quite long wearing. If you're wanting a moisturising lipsticks these are my favourites for that!

Rimmel Kate Moss Matte Finish

These lipsticks are really good for those who don't like the feel of matte finishes but want the look. They moisturise your lips whilst also looking matte.

MUA Lipsticks

MUA lipsticks are very very affordable at £1 (from superdrug or online at MUAstore.co.uk) These have more of a shine on them like a satin finish lipstick and are also moisturising on the lips. I haven't yet fully reviewed these but keep posted!

Revlon Lip Butter

Everyone and their mums have these lipsticks but they seriously are worth the buy! At £7.99 a pop I do think they're quite expensive but the colour pay off is nice and sheer for a casual summery look. They are super moisturising and super pigmented!

Rimmel Apocolips

There was a big hype around these lip lacquers when they first came out and for good reason. They act as a hyper pigmented lip gloss, then a lipstick type formula after they've been on the lips for a while and then after the gloss has worn off they act as a lip stain. They are super long wearing and they have a fairly wide colour range available good enough for summer and winter!

Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick

My favourite colour from this range is actually Pink Blush, they smell delicious, they're super moisturising, super pigmented and a good all rounder as a lipstick. They definitely tick all the boxes. They are around £4-£5 from Boots, Superdrug, ASDA or Tesco so definitely a bargain!

I hope this post helped if you're looking for a range drugstore/high street lipsticks!

Have you tried any of these products? Let me know!
