Nails to suit the weather: American Apparel's Sheer nail lacquer in Redondo Beach

Nails that look brrrrilliant ;)

Hey guys!

I have an addiction with painting my nails, certainly bright pastel colour - since it's spring! I never really thought of American Apparel as a place to go and buy my nail varnishes  However when I went in there to buy my disco pants *shame on me they're so expensive* I was also given this nail lacquer with my purchase called "Redondo Beach."

This colour is a perfect pale pastel blue for the spring and, much to everyone's dismay, suits the coldness of the spring perfectly! The finish is very smooth and not streaky and lasts around 2-3 days without chipping!

Although I did have it gifted the price isn't the best. At £9 a bottle I doubt I would pay for this more than once! It is an excellent polish but £9 just seems too expensive for something that isn't any better than Barry M Gelly hi-shine!

I love this nail varnish and keep reapplying it when it does chip! This range is a definite must-try if you are willing to part with that £9. I would say try it at least once as a bottle does give you quite a few goes!

REVIEW: Rimmel Apocalips Celestial, Apocaliptic and Big Bang

(T-B) Rimmel Apocolips in Big Bang, Apololiptic, Celestial.

Rimmel Apoloclips in Celestial - Boots £5.99

Rimmel Apoloclips in Apocoliptic - Boots £5.99

Rimmel Apocolips in Big Bang - £5.99, Boot

Hey Guys!
Ok, so I know I'm a bit late to this but I thought since I LOVE LOVE LOVE these lip lacquers I'd write a post regardless of whether or not the hype is over now.

I saw the hype going round about these lip lacquers when Rimmel were sending PR samples to bloggers and I bought Apocoliptic as soon as the range was brought to Boots. I was so excited to finally get my hands on this range as I'd been waiting for it since I'd heard everyone hyping over it!

First things first...the packaging is chic and classic with a black tube going transparent at the end to show the colour. The wand handle is in a kind of, 3D (?) shape, it's a doe foot applicator which has a concave in it to hold more product, so you don't have to keep dipping in and out of the tube, which i thought was pretty cool and a good design idea. I personally am a sucker for fancy/good looking packaging so if its got a good looking packaging I'll be all over it!

The lip lacquer goes through 3 stages, it goes from gloss, to lipstick to lipstain which I think is fab! You get a lot of wear of these products and they are VERY pigmented the whole way through their wear. I would say they last about 8 hours on me, when I've prepped my lips properly (exfoliated and moisturised!)

At £5.99 a pop for a product as good as this I don't think you can go far wrong. Any lover of lipstick/bright lip glosses or even lipstains should definitely pick this product up and i think they're going to be a staple in my lipstick collection!

What's your opinion on the Rimmel Apocolips range? Leave a comment below!

REVIEW: Topshop Lipstick in 'Tease'

Hey Guys!
I've been pondering upon buying a Topshop lippy for ages but never fully decided, due to the lack of colour range in my local Topshop! However, I thought I may as well try one considering the hype around them so I popped into my local Topshop and bought this little number called 'Tease.'

Tease is described as "Velvet finish lipstick to smooth, moisturise and nourish lips. Apply for fabulous colour and moisturised, matte finish, wear alone or with gloss for a shiny finish." by Topshop themselves! When applying the lipstick it was apparent that it is very moisturising without looking shimmery. It is a true matte colour with no shine to it whatsoever which is exactly the type of lipstick I was looking for.

It lasts a good six hours on the lips with a very pigmented barbie pink colour (it may last longer than six hours, however I only bought it a few days ago and am yet to test its staying time properly!) The reviews on the Topshop website are all glowing for this lip product and rightly so! It's resonably priced at £8, it lasts for ages, it's really pigmented and it moisturises your lips. If all that was't enough it comes in a cute little box and the tube itself is adorable.

Once again Topshop have won me over with a product and I will definitely be buying more lipsticks from their range!

What's your favourite Topshop lipstick?

I am an out and out animal lady, cat lady and dog lady mainly, so i thought why not incorporate them into my blog a bit? Since they're a bit part of my life! The Student Guide: Make money, Save money

Saving money/Making money!

Hey guys!

Now, I am by no means an expert on money, in fact i often spent way too much resulting in my parents bailing me out. This semester in university I was determined to make my way through on my own and still have some money left over at the end of the semester so I'm going to share a few of my tips with you and hopefully you'll save some money too! I will list a few of the ways I saved money and suggest a few other ways that I am yet to try out too.

1) eBay - I am in LOVEEEE with eBay! I didn't think anyone would want to buy my old clothes but one woman's rubbish is another woman's treasure right? i just grabbed a bag of clothes that I didn't want and instead of giving it all to charity I halved it (gotta give the charities something to settle my concious) and put some things up on eBay and so far I've made around £80 from about 6 items of clothing! So it's definitely worth a go if you're skint like me! (sell everything though! haha)

2) Money Box - I know this sounds so simple and silly but it really does work. My money box is more like a safe box it has a lock on it and separate compartments for notes and coins. My mantra is out of sight out of mind so if I take my pound coins and 50p pieces out of my purse and place them in there I usually forget they're there (when I have money) and when I'm a little bit on the skint side I remember and am thankful for my genius thinking, haha! Also, if you save up the pennies you have in your purse in a few months it really adds up! I recently went to the bank with my coppers and got £46 from it, resultttt!! My safe box was £8 from Home Bargains (a UK discount store)

3) Freezing meals - I have about 3 weeks worth of macaroni cheese sauce, chicken curries, chicken breasts, bolognese sauce and other meals in my freezer so I don't need to go out and buy much other than bread, milk and pasta/rice. Obviously it's not all I eat but it sure saves a lot of money instead of going out every week and doing a big shop. I can just go to my freezer and grab a ready made meal! Plus it has much less salt that the ones that you can buy from Tesco/ASDA or somewhere!

4) Skimlinks - If you have a blog, go to skimlinks.com and sign yourself up! If your blog gets enough clicks on your link within a month they'll credit the money to your bank account and bingo! You've made money just from blogging. What the site does is "skims" through your blog posts and finds products or brands you've mentioned and it will make them a link, when people click these links your clicks per link goes up and credits some money to you account which over time will build up, quickly or slowly depending on the popularity of your blog, and you'll earn some money!

5) Blog Sale - This is basically the same thing as eBay but on your blog so you don't have to pay any rates out to eBay or PayPal. hold a blog sale and advertise it on Twitter/Facebook and people will come along and buy your things, obviously only if they're resonably priced and good quality but it's better than throwing them away, right?

Ok so these are my tips to making/saving some money whilst being a student! I hope they've helped you. Have you got any tips that I haven't mentioned? I'd love to know :) Leave me a comment below!

Thanks for reading!

HOW TO: DIY Blonde, from brown to light blonde with L'oreal Paris Preference in Lightest Natural Blonde with built in hair lightner

Before:

After:

Hey guys!

So I've recently embarked on the adventure of gradually lightening my hair - until it's blonde! My hair is naturally a dirty blonde colour and even lighter when the sun decides to show it's face so I envisioned this lightening process to be as easy as pie, which so far - it has been!

First of all I stripped my hair using ColourB4 extra strength, which you can buy from any Boots or Superdrug store from £9.99 normal strength - £11.99 for the extra strength (I'm not too sure where you can get it outside of the UK, possibly Amazon?) I did this to lift most of the dark brown hair dye which has been sitting upon my head for the best part of a year, the hair stripper lifted nearly all of it but I was left with a dark brown/orangey hue to my hair and so I decided to go even lighter. To achieve this colour I used L'Oreal Paris Preference in Lightest Natural Blonde. You can use this box dye (available on offer in Boots at the moment for £6) to lighten or to just dye your hair! I used it as a lightener to get my hair to a blonde colour that didn't turn brassy, since it's purpose is half dye half lightener which I chose this one specifically!

I put this dye on my hair for 45 minutes to achieve this colour (bottom two "after" pictures) as the leaflet provided said 30 minutes for dye and up to 1 hour for proper bleach blonde hair but I wanted a more natural blonde finish - so 40 minutes was more than enough for me! I've also had the ends of my hair ombre'd for about a year now too so the ends are even lighter than the middles of my hair.

To take care of my hair, I use purple shampoo/conditioner to cancel out any brassy tones and turn my hair to a true blonde. The shampoo brands I use I have blogged about and are featured in my 'Feb Faves' post which you can read > here <

It's very important for you to treat your hair right when you've bleached/dyed it or as I say, fried! Because if you don't it will just suffer and stop growing properly so use the right products! I use lots of deep conditioners, hair oils, split end remedies and all sorts so if you'd like a post on that just let me know!I'll probably do a hair care routine post anyways!

What products do you use on your hair? Let me know! :)

February Favourites! Better late than never.

My Favourites this February!

Hey guys!
So! This is going to be my first favourites post *exciting* and I'm just going to do it in the average format, nothing too out there! I hope you enjoy it :D

1. TRESemme Split Remedy - the basic gist of this product am i'm sure you're aware of it to help prevent split ends, of course it wont heal them as you cannot repair a split end once its...you know, split! I put this on my hair after i've let it get around 60% dry and it mkes the ends of my hair thicker and more full, i LOVE this product, it doesn't build up and the bottle is still pretty much full after a month of using it every 2-3 days. I would reccomend this!
 2. Rimmel London Lasting Finish Soft Colour Blush in 020 Prink Rose - A very basic product and one I've been using for probably the last 5 years, they recently changed the packaging and made it look more sophistcated and  think it's really cute, basic but professonal. This product lasts all day without having to reapply and gives you a nice pinky glow to your cheeks, i tend to only use it during winter when my cheeks don't really go pink, during summer i tend to just bronze! It's a cheaply priced product at £3.49 (or there about!) I will repurchase and repurchase this until i'm mad enough to spend £10+ on MAC ones or try out Topshop's range!

3. Sleek MakeUP Eyebrow Palette in 818 Dark - I used to always use my beloved Rimmel London pencil but after using this I don't think i'll ever go back to it. This is a great consistency and lasts me ALL day without smudging or wearing away! (unless of course you smudge it with your fingers!) It is a little pricey at £8 just for an eyebrow palette but the cheaper alternative is MUA palette for £3.50. I know with all the recent bad going on with Mr MUA that some people wont want to but it's cheap and in my opinion it works so read my review > here < and decide for yourself!
4. Lush Lip Scrub in Popcorn - This is a little lifesaver product, which i have done a full review on (which you can read > here) You basically take a small amount on your finger and "buff" it into the lips (rub in small circular motions) and just wait until all the unwanted skin has been removed then apply your favourite lip balm. I do this the night & morning before I'm going somewhere important/want to wear lipstick so the lipstick lasts longer and looks better. This product is cruelty free and made in store (there's even a sticker saying who made it and when!) The best bit, in my opinion, is that when you've finished buffing you can lick off the excess as the jojoba oil and caster sugar make it completely edible! You could make it yourself - but i prefer to give £5.25 to an establishment that is against testing on animals!
.  5 Rimmel 1,2,3 Looks Adjustable Volume Mascara in Black - I used to use this years ago and lost the tube somewhere. Recently i haven't seen it on Rimmel shelves anywhere and I've looked EVERYWHERE - Boots, ASDA, Tesco, Superdrug, Online, EVERYWHERE! I recently went into St. John's centre in Liverpool and saw it there for a mere £1.49 and had to buy it straight away this mascara elongates my lashes whilst also giving them volume. The only down side is by the end of the day/night it do start flaking off but i wouldn't say this is a reason not to buy it as it does last a good 6 hours :)

6. L'Oreal LumiMagique Primer and Highlighter - I bought these after reading a review about them on Kate's blog . I never really used a primer for my foundation but thought i would give one a go and since reading the review a few days earlier decided this would be my choice! The primer is quite good but i tend not to use it on my eyes as it encourages my liquid eyeliner (which is a pen applicator one) to smudge and go everywhere but i use it everywhere else on the face. It keep my foundation looking freshly applied for around 4-5 hours which isn't bad because i get a really oily t-zone so overall i'm very impressed! The highlighter i use under my eyes and eyebrow arches and it definitely makes a difference it brightens your face and makes you look more awake/alive on days where the only thing you can think about is how long till i can go back to sleep? This range is a definite winner in my eyes :)
 7. TRESemme Keratin Smooth Deep Conditioning Hair Mask - The reason i bought this in all honesty was because it was on offer with the heat protectant spray! Also I saw a review of it on Katie Snooks blog and she said it was really good. Offer + Good recommendation? Had to buy it. My hair had been suffering due to the bleach i had put in it to ombre it so i thought this mask would help and it did, my hair is nice and smooth and it just looks healthier and it also feels thicker. I use this once a week usually on a Friday as I'm free Saturday morning to wash it out and whatever and it makes my hair feel awesome! :)
 8. Real Techniques Stippling & Powder brushes - I am a huge fan of products that don't test on animals and since these are not made from animal fur I was on them straight away! They apply just the right amount of product and never leave me looking "cakey" no matter how many times i try and reapply, the stippling brush properly evens out my foundation and makes it look seamless! I love these brushes and am currently after the buffing brush but i'm under the impression i'll have to buy the full core collection to get it...might just splash out anyway!
 9. Lacura Shea Body Butter - Ahhhh this smells like heaven in a pot. I apply this when i have a "pamper evening" as I'm sure most girls will understand. It smells amazing and its only £1.79 from Aldi! It leaves my skin feeling moisturised for 24 hours which i think is amazing! If i was my skin to be really soft i apply it only at night as since it's a butter it is of quite a heavy consistency so if i applied it during the day my skin would probably just produce 10x the amount of oil and my make up would slip and slide everywhere! Otherwise i love it thoooough! Hence why it's a favourite ;)
 10. Soap & Glory's Pulp Friction Foamy Fruity Body Scrub - I am i shallow shopper and I admit that i bought this just because of the name...I am however, pleasantly surprised that its amazing! Well I say surprised, I'm not 'cause Soap & Glory are usually top notch anyway! This scrub smells very fruity but also refreshing at the same time and has little beads in it to exfoliate and soften your skin and remove unwanted/excess skin particles! Basically but it it's named after the best movie ever (and it's good your your skin!! haha)
11. Boots Coconut & Almond Leave-in Conditioner spray - I bought this primarily to give my hair a little extra moisture during the day as I recently re-ombre'd my hair and didn't want it drying out too much. Firstly it's definitely helped in that area. I think i'll do a post on ombre hair care eventually (or how i care of my hair anyway!) Going back to the conditioner, it smells lovely and its very very reasonably priced. It's lasting me ages as well so when it does eventually run out I will definitely definitely be repurchasing!
 12. Fudge Urban Sea Salt Hair Spray - As a student i cannot afford the Bumble&Bumble Surf Spray *tear* so i opted for this one after reading a review on the Superdrug website. It is a very good salt spray in my eyes, achieves beachy waves in my hair and gives my hair more texture which is exactly what i was looking for. It's only down side is it makes your hair crispy, I haven't used many salt sprays so i wouldn't know if this is the case which all of them but I don't particularly like that at all not even with hair spray i like a loose hold so my hair looks soft and natural. Otherwise though it is more than enough for me!
13. Nivea Double Effect 48hr Anti-Perspirant - Nothing much to say about this other than it works and smells really good! All my other deodorants anti-perspirants used to wear off. I'm not an overly sweaty/smelly person don't worry that's not what i'm saying! I've just never found one that lasts and now I have! :)

14.  MUA Undressed Eye Shadow Palette - I am in love with this palette, i bought it for £4 from Superdrug and have used it every single day since! The colour selection is a mix of mattes and shimmery tones and all you need to create a basic smokey eye. This product has earner it's place in my "everyday" face/make up routine and i am certainly glad i discovered it. Read my full review > here. <
 15. Sally Hensen Advanced Hard As Nails Strengthener - This little pot contains Nylon and Retinol to help strengthen your natural nails over time. I bought this as an alternative to getting my nails done professionally, which i later caved into and got done anyway but that's another story. My nails usually grow quite long quite fast but they're always weak no mater how many vitamins i take or how healthy i eat to help them. So i bought this and it definitely improved my nails which started to break at least 80% less than they did without it, You apply it to your nails with 2 or 3 coats and then apply your nail polish and in time it strengthens your nails!

16. Provoke Touch of Silver Twice Weekly Brightening Shampoo & John Frieda Sheer Blonde Colour Renew Tone Correcting Conditioner - As i have aforementioned i have recently re-ombre'd my hair and need to use products to help this style/add moisture to it. I bought these hair products to cancel out brassy and unwanted yellow/orangey tones and leave my hair looking blonde. I use the Touch of Silver twice a week and the John Frieda about 3 times and my hair is now looking significantly less orange which i am very glad of! I would recommend these to someone who want to cancel out their orange tones but doesn't know what to use :)

And there we have my first monthly favourites! What did you guys think? What are one or two of your favourites?? Leave comments below!!
