HOW TO: Make-up Brush Cleaning

What you'll need: A bowl of warm water, a towel, baby shampoo and of course, dirty brushes!

Before Cleaning: clean water

After Cleaning: Ewwwwww!!!

Hey guys!

So today I'm going to show you how I clean my make up brushes. I have the Real Techniques Core Collection, Real Techniques Powder, Stippling and Blush Brushes, Illamasqua Powder Brush, Body Shop Concealer Brush and just a random £1 blush brush. They're all synthetic hair brushes.

  1. First I start by dipping the brush into the bowl of warm water until it's soaked, I then squeeze the excess water out of the brush and back into the bowl.
  2. I then squeeze some baby shampoo directly onto the brush hairs and mix it in by rubbing the brush around on my finger tips.
  3. After this I dip the brush back into the water and swirl it round in circular motion and then again squeeze the excess water out until you can see that the baby shampoo is all gone from the brush. Repeat numbers 2+3 until all the make up has gone from the brush.
  4. Squeeze any water out and lay flat to dry on a towel - usually best to leave over night.
And that's it! Simple as that, cleaning brushes has never been easier and it really does deep clean them. At the moment Johnsons Baby Shampoo is £1.50 for 500ml on offer (correct as of 12/06/2013) but I'm no sure how long for.

Did this help you at all? Let me know!

  1. Your blog is just so cute :)
I have a MAC stippling brush and no matter how many times I wash it, it just never seems to get clean!
    Great post though ;D
