Makeup Geek Eyeshadows & UK Shipping

L-R Makeup Geek e/s in Bitten, Burlesque & Roulette.

*Update: Makeup Geek is now sold on Beauty Bay

For the past few years the beauty world (mostly the overseas part) has been in uproar over Makeup Geek Eyeshadows boasting quality similar, if not better than, MAC eyeshadows at a cheaper price point you can't really go wrong, right?

Being that I'm from the UK, Makeup Geek eyeshadows are a little harder to get your hands on over here as I don't think they have any UK stockists (i.e Morphe on Beauty Bay and so on) so you have to order from the US site and get them imported over, which is what I did! I currently own 8 Makeup Geek shadows, so not a whole load but, enough for now, which are pictured below.

Recap: Goals for September & New Goals for October.

At the start of September I wrote this post about my goals for September. The post was about short term goals I wished to achieve during the month. In this post I'll recap those goals and write some new ones for October!

Review // Boots Botanics 100% Organic Rose Water Toning Spritz

Boots Botanics 100% Organic Rose Water Toning Spritz, £5.99 - Boots

I've really tried to up my skincare game recently and I'm trying to do the 3 step thing and jut seeing what works for me.

I was in Boots looking for a facial oil when I came across this toner, I picked it up on a whim without reading reviews, just to see what it was like and to see if on the of chance maybe, I struck gold.

Review // Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer in Fair Neutral

Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer in Fair Neutral, Debenhams - £17.50

Concealer is something that is personal to the individual and what the individual person is looking for.

Personally when I buy a concealer, I buy it a few shades lighter and full coverage as I like to use it to highlight and conceal dark circles. I have full coverage foundation mostly, so I don't really use concealer to conceal blemishes as they mostly get covered by my foundation.

Goals for September.

I saw this style of post of Becky's blog from Milk Bubble Tea and thought it was a great idea! Not only to keep myself accountable but also to change up the content on my blog and break up the beauty posts with a little lifestyle.

I'm a strong believer in looking after your skin before anything else, you only have one chance to make your skin look the best it can and it's really important to use the right products for you skin type.

I've been dabbling in skincare for the past year and while my regimen still isn't perfect and I'm still trying and testing new products, one product has really stuck out to me and made a huge difference in my skin.

Top 5 Drugstore Beauty Products

L-R Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer in Fair - £4.19 - Boots // Soap & Glory Supercat Eyeliner £6 - Boots // Cocoa Brown 1hr Tanning Mousse, £7.99 - Superdrug // Maybelline Colour Tattoo, £4.99 each - Boots // Real Techniques Brushes from £5.99 - Boots.

Recently I shared my Top 5 High End Beauty Products (post here) where I chose what products from high end brands I would most definitely repurchase. I have created the same sort of post here, but with drugstore (or Boots/Superdrug if you're from the UK like me) products that are inexpensive but still really excellent quality.

Top 5 High End Beauty Products

Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay in Place Makeup, £30 - Debenhams // Chanel Soleil Tan De Chanel Universal Bronzing Makeup Base, £32 - Debenhams // Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit, £39 - Cult Beauty // Too Faced Chocolate Bar Eyeshadow Palette, £39 - Debenhams // MAC Lipsticks, £15.50 - MAC Cosmetics.

I'm the type of girl who doesn't like to spend a lot of money, on anything, so spending money on high end makeup isn't something I do lightly. If i'm purchasing something from a high end brand I will read and re-read reviews a hundred times before I make my decision.

The bits and bobs I do have that are high end are some of my favourite products and I use them on a daily basis.

The Book Of Brave by Laura Jane Williams (Superlatively Rude)

The Book of Brave, Laura Jane Williams (AKA superlativelyrude) - £4.95 here

Recently I've been on some sort of reading mission, where I buy a book and unintentionally read it in under 24 hrs. I did this with Sophia Amoruso's #GirlBoss and I've also done this with Laura Jane Williams' The Book of Brave.

The Book of Brave is a 93 page ebook about what it means to be brave and to love yourself, in Laura's own words reflecting on her life and lessons she has learned and is now passing on.

Now, just because I read this book so quickly, that's not to say this book wasn't well written or well thought out, I'm definitely sure a lot of thought went into it, incredible amounts and the writing style/language in the book is brilliant. Laura is a truly intelligent woman. That's just to say that this book was so gripping, I felt I couldn't sleep until I'd absorbed every ounce of information it had to offer, as though it was going to be the answer to all my questions.

It wasn't.

But it didn't need to be and it wasn't meant to be, but it taught me something else. Something Better.

Review & Swatches // Urban Decay Naked Smoky Eyeshadow Palette

Urban Decay Naked Smoky, £38 - Debenhams.

I've wanted to own one of the Naked palettes for as long as I've loved makeup, but I could never justify, in my own mind, £38 on an eyeshadow palette. Then the other day I saw the Naked Smoky was being realised and mixed emotions overcame me a mixture of FOMO and also confusion. I'd previously spent £39 on the Too Face Chocolate Bar palette and £32 on a Chanel Bronzer so in my half asleep half awake state, I just bought it without thinking about it and now I am the proud owner of a beautiful range of eyeshadows.

What's in my Bag?

I've wanted to do a "What's in my bag" for a while but didn't think it'd be the right sort of topic for a blog, I feel like it's better suited to YouTube and then I thought, you know what, balls to that! So here's what in my bag, if you're interested!

Do you ever sit down to write a blog post and just thing "I have no idea where to even start..." That's me right now.

I haven't written a proper favourites post since *opens new tab to check blog archive* January, where I spoke about my December favourites. I have no idea why, I just haven't, no excuses I've been lazy!

These are my favourite from January, up until now, there isn't a lot but these are ones that have really stood out to me.

Now lets move onto what I've been loving.

Sunless Tanning with St. Tropez.

St Tropez Gradual Tanning Kit, £25 - Debenhams

Sunbeds are not my thing, I'm putting that out there right from the get go. I have been on a sunbed once in my entire 22 years of living and it was for 3 minutes and it was the worst experience of my life.

Then I decided to try fake tan.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Pro Series Contour Kit, £39 CultBeauty.co.uk

On days where I'm feeling particularly daring with my makeup and want to bring out my inner Kimmy K, this baby does all the work for me.

If i'm honest I don't think it even needs a review, I feel as though I'm flogging a dead horse right now but on the other hand, once you own it you understand why it is so good and why there are so many rave reviews on this particular product.

Review // Chanel Soleil Tan De Chanel Bronze Universal Makeup Base

Chanel Soleil Tan De Chanel Bronzing Universal Bronzing Makeup Base, £32 - Debenhams

I've seen the Chanel Soleil Tan De Chanel on a fair few channels and blogs in my time as a beauty enthusiast and this year was finally the year I took the plunge and bought it, and i'm so glad I did.

Summer Scent // Paul Smith Rose

Paul Smith Rose Eau De Parfum 100ml, £57 - Debenhams

If there is one thing I need during the summer, except a holiday and some decent BBQ food, it's a summer fragrance. Last year and many years before that, it was Marc Jacobs Daisy original, this year it was going to be Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess until I couldn't physically part with my money and turned to a cheaper alternative and I found that in the form of Paul Smith Rose.

Review // Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette

Too Faced Chocolate Bar Eyeshadow Palette, £39 - Debenhams

If there's nothing other that I can smell, except the smell inside this palette, for the rest of my life, I tell you this - it wouldn't be a bad thing.

Not only does this palette come in insanely cute packaging, as per Too Faced products, but it also packs a punch with it's colour selection from mattes, to shimmers, to satin shades and they all smell divine.

Liz Earl Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser Starter Kit, £15.50 - FeelUnique.com

I'm pretty sure everyone and their mother, in the beauty world, knows what this product is and what it does.

I have seen it raved about for years by the likes of Zoella, Louise (Sprinkle of Glitter) and Barbara (The Persian Babe) just to name a few so when my skin started to break out and play up, I decided it was time to really get my skincare regime in order.

Being in Charge of Your Own Life.

April 23rd 2015, I turned 22 years old, and even though that isn't old at all, I feel like I had some sort of crisis on that day.

My birthday was a lovely day don't get me wrong, I'm very grateful to have a loving family and friends and for everything that I have, but it got me thinking, "When am I going to feel like a 'grown up'?" so to speak. When will I feel like I can handle myself, be completely independent and like my life is going in the right direction?

The honest answer is, I don't think anyone ever feels totally like this.

I'm constantly crippled by the fear of failing, even with small things, failing at small tasks makes me feel like a failure, like I can't do anything right, so much that I avoid doing anything risky, just because if I don't try, I can't fail.

Which is true, if you don't try, you can't fail, but if you don't try, you also can't succeed.

(Top - Bottom) MAC Whirl Lipliner £12.50 - Selfridges.com // MAC Soar Lipliner, £12.50 - Selfridges.com // MAC Matte Lipstick in Velvet Teddy, £15.50 - Debenhams.com

Recently it seems everybody been raving over MAC lipliners and it's all down to Kylie Jenner and "that" Kylie Jenner lip colour. I've seen countless YouTube tutorials, blog posts, pins on Pinterest amongst other things showing people dupes of here "unknown" lip colour and how to achieve that fuller lip look.

It wasn't until Nic and Sam from Pixiwoo interviewed Kim Kardashian that everybody finally got the name of some of Kylie's products, Soar & Spice. Cue mass purchasing of said liners and people searching everywhere for them. After trying for months, I finally got my hands on a few of the products I'd been wanting for ages!

Current Beauty Favourites.

I've been in a sort of a beauty rut for a few months now, using the same products day in day out and not really being interested in finding anything new. Sort of in my beauty comfort-zone, if you will.

This isn't my monthly favourites, I haven't done one of those posts in a while because like I said, I haven't tried anything new that's really stuck out to me in the last few months, this is just products I've been loving recently.

To remedy this, I took myself to Boots and tried to bring myself out of this funk by picking up a few different things to mix in with my already beloved bits and these are the items that I am loving my for day to day makeup, new and old in my collection.

Long time no see, my fellow beauty lovers!

I've been gone for nearly 2 months now and its been bliss, no word of a lie, I love taking time away from the internet, namely blogging, every so often, just to focus of me, my health and my life outside of the world wide web (if you watched Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway, please read that in Richard Madeley's voice, if not, carry on...)

BEAUTY // My Favourite 5 Red Lipsticks

L-R: MAC RiRi Woo - £15.50, MAC Cosmetics // L'oreal Color Riche Collection Exclusive Pure Reds in Blake's Red, £6.99 - Boots // Revlon Colorstay Moisture Lipstain in New York Scene, £7.99 - Boots // Maybelline Color Sensational Vivids Lipstick in Hollywood Red, £6.99 - Boots // Lime Crime Velvetine in Red Velvet, £13.50 - Cocktailcosmetics.co.uk

For me, nothing is more glamorous than a red lip and I have many of them as you will see in the below photo, I was going to do a "My Red Lipstick Collection &  Swatches" post because I'm sure everyone says this but, they're all different shades of red, I swear. That post would have taken me more than a few hours to picture, swatch, write up and edit though so I'll leave that one for another day and today I will go through my favourite reds with you!

I haven't done a "Monthly Favourites" post in around two months now, so this is pretty nice to sit down and share what I loved in December with you. I've done my 2014 favourites post in the for of my 12 Days of Beauty series which you can read by clicking here.

NEW IN // Real Techniques Nic's Picks (Limited Edition)

Real Techniques Nic's Picks Brush Set, £29.99 - Boots (Nic's picks is limited edition and no longer available on the Real Techniques site, however definitely check your local drugstore as I got mine from there 3 weeks ago and saw some still available last week)

Everyone. their mum and their dog knows about Real Techniques brushes.  Created by Sam & Nic Chapman of Pixiwoo these brushes were created with high quality taklon bristles, a cruelty free material, and amazing quality at a lower, drugstore price point.

Yes, my brushes are a little used, but the had just been washed and then I used them again before taking pictures, stupidly. When I say "New In" I mean new in my collection, they are pretty new though, these brushes came out in October 2014 and will be selling until all stock is sold, I presume, as they are Limited Edition.

When it comes to beauty, makeup, hair care etc I'm sure we all have a few things we would love to buy and put on a list of things to buy and try out. I have a large list but here I've listed some of the items that I wanted to buy and try in 2015. There are a few more things that spring to mind that I want to try, but these are my top picks.

REVIEW // L'oreal Nude Magique BB Powder

L'oreal Nude Magique BB Powder in Light - £6.99, Boots

As a girl with oily skin, setting my foundation, and any other liquids, on my face is definitely a must. I dread to think how I'd look if I didn't. My search for the perfect face powder is never over, I've tried MAC MSF Natural, Rimmel Stay Matte and Maybelline Matte Maker and whilst all of them do the trick, I just like to shop around and see if I can find a holy grail or just to see if there are any better products on offer.

My quest for the perfect setting powder landed me at the L'oreal counter in Boots where I found the Nude Magique BB Powder. I was quite intrigued by it, as its a BB Powder, I didn't really understand it, so I thought I'd buy it and give it a try.

I've also been a lover of music, not one specific genre either, but not necessarily a "I like everything" type of person. As soon as I saw this tag, created by Zoe & Lily, I really wanted to do it and I've no idea why it's taken me so long to get around to it! So I'll stop waffling and get into the questions...

REVIEW // Maybelline Colorsensational Elixir

Maybelline Colorsensational Elixir (L-R) in Mandarine Rupture, Raspberry Rhapsody & Nude Illusion, £6.99 each - Boots

Right off the bat I want to say I've never been a fan of lipglosses, they're not my deal, they're not my thing and I'm not that gal. Even the none sticky ones, I find my hair sticks to them anyway. Coloured glosses however are a different matter, I love how they can add another level of colour to you lipstick or just your lips on a day where you want a little colour but not too much.

One day whilst browsing in Boots I saw the Colour Elixirs from Maybelline had been brought to the UK and I wanted to try a few so I picked up the ones that stood out to me and I knew I would get the most use out of.
